Oklahoma UDC History Chairman May 21, 2009 This year, four chapters chose to send in reports in time for Division Convention. Division members were vibrant and active in preserving and furthering the Southern message. They observed many Confederate occasions, shared the Historian General’s message, valued veterans in various ways, enjoyed historical programs, supported museums, libraries and schools as well as produced and shared scrapbooks, yearbooks, newsletters and many essays, articles and other promotional materials. Many were active in other committees and were pleased to report the fruits of their labor as it pertained to history as well. General Clement A. Evans 1204 marked their 100th Anniversary in May – here’s to 100 more. Members Kathy Huber and Imogene Crutchfield were both published in our General Magazine. Cherokee 1737 has been very active for the Southern cause. In addition to many of the activities shared by their Oklahoma sisters, they gave Confederate pictures, songs, and flags to schools. Four Southern Crosses of Honor were bestowed and the chapter worked in 8 cemeteries on Confederate Interments. Additionally, they dedicated an Iron Cross at Private Wing’s grave in Bartlesville. Sarah Watie 2579, used chapter newsletters to keep their Southern history while encouraging communication. The informative omnibus is a great record of history. Cowskin Prairie 2611 focused on continuing history by hosting a proof and application workshop for the public. Members additionally lectured at a similar gathering for General Forrest 881. We all know that this is just the tip of the iceberg as to what our Oklahoma daughters have been achieving. All history endeavors are important and should get the recognition they deserve. However, ladies, if you hide your light under a basket… Please remember that full reports, which will be used for Oklahoma’s General History reports, are due into me no later than August 15, 2009. Full information was in your Winter Board packets and can be found online at www.okdivudc.com/history. Let’s go for 100% reporting to General this year.
