A few words from your hosts, the Cowskin Prairie
Chapter…..

It is our hope you have been keeping up
with plans for the upcoming 100th Oklahoma Division Convention,
through the chapter mailings sent to your president, as well as the Division
E-list and our chapter mailing, the Drumbeat.
We are all excited about the President
General visiting the Division! It is our hope, at Cowskin Prairie Chapter, that
you will all take this opportunity to become better acquainted with this lovely
lady.
We know that while enjoying our Southern
hospitality, you will note we are also exercising frugality. In these times of
rising prices, we must put what little “hard money” we have to good use. To that
end, we have been able to furnish meals that actually cost members less than
last year. This, combined with the reasonable overnight fees, should make the
decision to come and enjoy the 100th Division Convention easier than
ever.
Throughout the year, we have encouraged
everyone, to consider wearing their Native American clothing, jewelry, etc., for
Friday’s Historical Evening. Since the entire evening will have a Native
American theme we thought this might be fun and interesting to dress for the
occasion. The menu will consist of traditional Native American meal (with a few
extras) of beef and hominy, grape dumplings, and frybread with honey, salad,
drink and dessert, prepared by the Wyandotte Nation Nutrition Center. Mrs.
Crutchfield has arranged for a wonderful speaker who will bring us lots of great
information about the Saline Courthouse.
Join us for a garden party at the
Daughter’s Luncheon, on Saturday. This lady’s menu features the special recipe
for Southern chicken and fruit salad. This was, supplied by a recipient of the
Jefferson Davis Medal, from Alabama. This sought after main course will be
served with potato salad, bread, drink and dessert. Mrs. Brown has arranged a
program dealing with the Hildebrand-Beck Mill, which we are sure you will find
most enlightening.
The President’s Evening is also the
Centennial Banquet, as we commemorate the endeavors of each chapter and
celebrate the Oklahoma Division’s 100 Years of Service to the UDC. We hope that
each of you will join us in your period attire for what we anticipate to be an
enjoyable and exciting evening. Do come prepared to join in the fun! The
banquet will consist of smoked pork tenderloin, baked sweet potato, green beans,
salad, drink and a special dessert.
