The Cowskin Prairie Chapter
has already had many “work” meetings, in preparation for the convention. As the
plans come together and preparations continue, we are becoming more and more
excited in being able to show our sisters in service, Southern hospitality in
our corner of the state. We look forward to being your hosts, as we all come
together to celebrate the Oklahoma Division’s 100 years of service to the United
Daughters of the Confederacy, June 13-15, 2008.
We hope this year’s
Confederate Fair is a successful companion to this convention. No matter what
the goal, all service organizations need funds to thrive, and as our Southern
Sisters before us, we are no different. We hope everyone will bring lots of
homemade edibles for the Fair. Everyone should also bring their appetites and
have plenty of hard currency in their pockets. Following the chapter basket
tradition, we know the entire state will be on pins and needles to see what the
thirteen baskets are, which will be available to the lucky ticket winners.
All Chapter Presidents, and
those of you who have signed up by email, should have already received 2 issues
of our convention newsletter, DRUMBEAT, and we hope that it has been
shared with all members. The third issue will be in everyone’s state packets to
share and will go out on the state e-list, too. They can be found online, by
anyone at any time at
Drumbeats. Anyone that wants one
through email, please email me or anyone else in our chapter. Rather than going
through all the great information we already have dispersed to ya’ll about the
convention, it’s all in the DRUMBEAT: information about hotel and
reservations, Grove, Saturday’s Cruise, period clothing tips and ideas and more.
So, plan to come and be a part
in all the activities! Break out your Native American and other period clothing
and step back in time with us. We hope that you and your chapter members will
join us for what promises to be an interesting and fun filled centennial
celebration of the Oklahoma Division, UDC. Please bring family, friends, and
potential members along - all are welcome!

Featuring Homemade edibles
and the ever-popular
chapter basket auction
This year the fair will be a feast for the Southern soul! Members
should bring their homemade food items for the Fair with them when they register
for the 2008 Oklahoma Division Convention. All fair items need to be:
What does individually packaged mean?
If you bring 1 sack of 2 dozen squares of fudge – it will be sold as one item.
If you bring a box with 2 dozen individually wrapped pieces of fudge (all
labeled with chapter name and number) there will be 2 dozen items to sell.
What can I bring?
Any food item that is homemade. Let your imagination
run wild. A few ideas might include: cakes, breads of any type or shape,
pastries, jams/jellies/preserves, candies of any kind from peanut brittle to
sugar plums and any other sweet, dried fruit, jerky, real shortbread, popcorn
balls, whatever you canned this year (pickles, salsa, green beans, etc.), mixes
of all types from soup, to cake, beverage and beyond.

¶¶¶Chapter Baskets are requested for auction¶¶¶
Let your desire to support the Oklahoma
Division get the best of you. Each chapter is requested to supply one gift
basket. Fill it with anything you wish, make it any size you choose. Tickets
will be sold during convention. The lucky winning ticket holder will get their
choice of baskets until they are all taken.
Celebrate 100 years of Oklahoma Division service to UDC by
making this Fair the best stocked and shopped!
Contact the chairman with any
