Family Tree Maker 2012 Tips and Tricks
by Carol & Jeff Savage

Jeff and Carol SavageJeff and Carol Savage have been interested in genealogy since living in England in the early 1980’s.  Jeff’s maternal lines originated from Clan Cameron in the Scottish highlands.  Carol’s paternal lines originated from Clan Campbell in Argyll, Scotland.  The Savages both attended Oklahoma State University and because of Jeff’s position with an oil company were transferred from Tulsa to Houston, Denver, London, back to Houston, then San Francisco and back to Tulsa.  This gave them the opportunity to connect with Jeff’s Scottish cousins whose grandparents had migrated to every corner of the globe.  His cousin, Ian Cameron, has in fact published a genealogical book, The Camerons of Australia, detailing the family “down under” and their travels.  Since the ‘70’s and ‘80’s, genealogical research using the computer has grown by leaps and bounds.  Upon relocating to Grand Lake in 2001, Carol began researching her Cherokee roots, using the local library as her reference base.  She has since become a regular genealogy volunteer for Grove Public Library, specializing in Cherokee research.  She has helped several people actually obtain their Cherokee tribal registration.  Because Jeff has been involved in Information Technology all his life, he has become the “go-to” guy for all things computer-related, whether it is teaching MLS for the NE OK Board of Realtors or in his personal life.  Jeff is currently a Realtor with RE/MAX Grand Lake.  His certifications include CRS, e-PRO and SRES, and he has been selected “Rookie of the Year” and “Realtor of the Year.”  They have been members of the Delaware County Genealogy Society for the past ten years, Carol serving as Ways & Means Chairman and Jeff as Publicity Chairman.
